“THE FRENCH CONNECTION!” From The French Quarter To The Gaslamp Quarter

Fat Tuesday, February 12, 2013 | 5pm – 2am

San Diego, California, Gaslamp Quarter – From the French Quarter to the Gaslamp Quarter, party revelers are in for a Fat Tuesday treat on February 12, 2013. The two major Mardi Gras highlights in downtown San Diego are (1) “The 19th Annual Mardi Gras in the Gaslamp” presented by the Gaslamp Quarter Association and

(2) “The French Connection!” presented by www.ClubVIPSD.com and www.GaslampEvent.com.

“The 19th Annual Mardi Gras in the Gaslamp” is expected to draw 12,000 party people and will take place at the south end of the Gaslamp Quarter from Market to

L Street. Entertainment includes zydeco, samba, blues and rock bands, DJs, dance crews, acrobats and visual artists on four stages and multiple performance areas. Tickets to this outdoor music festival are $40 in advance and $50 at the gate. Admission includes in and out privileges to allow attendees to experience the pulsating nightlife the Gaslamp Quarter has to offer.  

“The French Connection!” features the top ten Mardi Gras club celebrations held indoors (outside of the festival footprint) at the north end between E, F and G Street. Tickets (or popularly recognized as the “Club VIP Passport”) are $29 in advance and $35 day of. “The French Connection!” includes VIP access to ten French fêtes, welcome aperitifs, a bull ride and live DJ performances at some of the most seductive nightclubs and bars on Fifth Avenue in Southern California.

The ten French fêtes are “voulez-vous coucher” at The Keating Gran Turismo Level, “avec moi” at Brick + Mortar, “ce soir” in PCD - Pussycat Dolls Dollhouse, “French Bulle” at Double Deuce, “Nouveau” at Greystone’s new Stone Lounge, “Ooh la la” at Osetra, “Le Noir” at Onyx Room, “Aphrodisiaque” at Analog, “Moulin Rouge” at Belo and “Le Vin” at Vin De Syrah.

“Mardi Gras” is the French translation for “Fat Tuesday”. It refers to the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday and the “final day of indulgence” before the start of Lent, when faithful Christians commit to fasting or giving up certain luxuries for 40 days and 40 nights as a form of penitence.

“Before you sacrifice, satisfy…” invites SIN Bosier, organizer of The French Connection! (TFC) and the elevated Club VIP experience since 2006.

“The TFC is a unique party-hop jam packed with cool club entries and VIP perks. The festivities start at check-in at The Gran Turismo and continue throughout the evening as your Fat Tuesday krewe grows and parades down Fifth Avenue!”

The Keating is housing three separate French fêtes at the Gran Turismo Sponsored Lounge, the brand new Brick + Mortar and Pussycat Dolls Dollhouse (PCD) in the hotel underground. “Tuesday is our special “SINdustry” night so we are expecting an even larger turn-out” said Jesseca Crissey, Public Relations Director at the Keating Hotel. ”The Gran Turismo is not typically open to the public, so Club VIP passport holders will be enjoying rare access to this area, where “Hotel Hell with Gordon Ramsay” on Fox was filmed,” added Crissey.  

In support of “party responsibly”, Hotel Indigo Gaslamp Quarter has set up a special “Play & Stay” rate of $129 for “The French Connection” passport holders (booked by February 1). Ace Parking on 707 Broadway is taking $3 off their special event rate and accommodating overnight parking at no extra charge for Club VIP.

“Ace is a strong supporter of Gaslamp events. Like Club VIP, we want visitors to fully enjoy themselves when they party downtown, so we are providing them an alternative to driving impaired. On Fat Tuesday, you can leave your car overnight at the designated structure and pick it up by 8am the following business day. That way, you know your vehicle is safe, not worry about it getting towed and have a better time” said Mike Vargason, Operations Manager of Ace Parking.
